The Mindless Machines compilation 02/14/2012
0 Comments

While I've been hard at work with the newest Spatial Distortion album, we at Mindless Machines have been planning a compilation album of all local artists tentatively called the Mindless Machines 2012 Compilation.  Basically, we are looking for local artists who produce electronic music in the experimental or avant garde range to join in on the compilation.  We are hoping to get between 12-16 artists to submit a single track to be included on the compilation, or if the numbers are low, 5-6 artists to submit two tracks each.  If all goes smoothly, we are hoping to have the compilation released by May or June.  The album will be completely free to download, so artists will need to be ok with their material being offered in such a manner.  This is a no-cost deal to help expose more of the local talent as well as to help promote the Mindless Machines brand.  If you are interested in learning more or if you are ready to sign-up, please visit the contact page on MindlessMachines.com.  We are very excited to embark on this project and hope that we can help to promote more of the talented artists in the area.

I've just nailed down the release date for the new album, named "Ghost Radio."  You can download the new album on November 11th, 2011.  This album contains elements of acid techno with a healthy dose of melodic ambient textures, abrasive glitches and 8-bit synths.  It comes across as mostly upbeat and contemplative with some darker moments as well.

You can get a sneak peek at the album over at Last.fm right now.

New Album - Abstract Concrete 09/12/2011

Spatial Distortion | Abstract Concrete
Released today, Abstract Concrete is now available for free download.  This is the sixth full-length album I've released as Spatial Distortion and has a elements of acid techno and glitch, but I've also played around with some drum & bass and a little dubstep and electro-metal.  I'm curious how some people will react to the metal elements since it's really the first time I've really put that into a track under the Spatial Distortion name. This album spans over 2 years displays a broad range of influences.  It's a little more energetic (track #4 - How Things Have Changed) and less on the sleepy side (track #14 - Abstract Concrete) and has an almost pop sound at times (track #8 - Oceanic Boundlessness).  Click the link to listen or download for free.  Released on the Harvest Moon.

Bobbie Boob | Afternoon Legends: Vol. 2
That's right, the second installment in Bobbie Boob's Afternoon Legends series has been released on August 1st, 2011 for free download.

As it stands right now, Afternoon Legends: Vol. 3 is nearly complete with all tracks mixed down and sequenced.  Even the artwork is complete.  We are now planning the release date which will be announced shortly.

Volume 4 is also quickly coming together with nearly all songs completed and mixed down.  We are still developing the artwork and working on hammering out the release date.

For those of you following the progress on the Spatial Distortion album "Abstract Concrete,"  I am still working on finalizing some of the songs and making my final edits to them.  It's taking me a bit longer than I had originally anticipated, but it shouldn't be too much longer before I'll have everything put together.  There is no release date scheduled as of yet, but that should be coming shortly after I've done the final mastering and mixdowns of those songs.  Keep checking here for more information as it comes.

2011 is turning out to be quite the productive year for the Mindless Machines label.  All Bobbie Boob and Spatial Distortion albums can be listened to and downloaded for free through MindlessMachines.com.

3 albums in the works 07/26/2011

We are hard at work with the newest Spatial Distortion album dubbed "Abstract Concrete" scheduled to be released a bit later this year.  The album has a bit more of a synth pop sound to it with influences of acid techno and trip-hop.  Cover art has been designed by Eric Rosenberg and fits the mood of the album very well.

In addition to this, we've been digging through the vaults in the search of hidden gems for the next two Bobbie Boob albums, Afternoon Legends volumes 2 and 3.  We've been finding a significant number of tracks that have nearly been forgotten or simply buried under time.  As is stands right now, we're toying with the idea of releasing both volumes in rapid succession.

All three albums will be available for free download later this year.

Spatial Distortion | Unreleased Tracks (2005-2010)
This collection of B-side, rough cut or tracks that were otherwise cut from albums, is a compilation of rarely heard Spatial Distortion tracks.  These tracks have never before been available to download or play online, and now they are conveniently bundled in one album.  "Unreleased Tracks (2005-2010" spans five years of eclectic electronic music from the very beginning of Spatial Distortion to just before the album "Lucid."

The album is completely free and can be downloaded here:  http://goo.gl/7sGBH

Boob Boob 'Free Toy Inside!'
I'm a little late on this post as Bobbie Boob's "Free Toy Inside!" was released on April 1st, 2011.  The album is an experiment in writing a song every day for a month.  It has received a good amount of positive attention and feedback, so thank you for everyone that has downloaded and enjoyed it so far.

Sadly, last.fm has not been cooperating and I have not yet been able to get the album posted there.  If you are a last.fm user, you can still scrobble/tag the album and it will get recorded appropriately.

You can download a free copy here in MP3, FLAC and pretty much any other format you could possibly want:  http://goo.gl/249d0

Onslaught of new albums 03/07/2011

With the Clawfoot show a success, I have moved onto finalizing the Unreleased Tracks album which has taken a bit longer than I anticipated.  This album will contain tracks that were cut from albums between 2005 and 2010.  Lots of B-side and rare stuff in there from clear back to when I first started Spatial Distortion.

March is also the start of Bobbie Boob's song-a-day project where Jason Zulkoski and I are starting and finishing a complete song for each day of the month of March.  The album, named "Free Toy Inside!," will be released on April 1st, 2011.  This is a bit of an ambitious project for us as we generally write in a very free-flowing, "it'll get done when it gets done" manner.  I'm very happy with the first 6 tracks so far.  It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

We are also finalizing the songs for Bobbie Boob, Afternoon Legends Vol. 2 which should be released either late March or early April.  This release will contain the long-awaited track "Dirty Milk" along with some other odd and unusual tracks.

On top of all of this, I'm also working hard to get the final pieces of the next full-length Spatial Distortion release "Abstract Concrete."  If all goes well, I should have this done in April.
